A Comté Tea Plate, Palate Reset, and Other Cheese Rituals for Spring🌷
Including a cheese meditation guaranteed to soothe your nervous system
Hello cheese sluts, and happy (almost) spring!
The vernal equinox is tomorrow, beckoning us to emerge from our winter slumber. March, generally melancholic and seasonally indecisive, can leave us a little stir-crazy and sleepy-eyed, even when the vernal equinox rolls around and marks the official end of winter. On this day, light and dark rule equally, and while the scales are tipping into the kingdom of the sun, the shadow realm remains.
Known as “Ostara” in the Pagan calendar, the equinox is a time of rebirth and renewal, and yet, many of us are exhausted. This winter has been rife with hardship. Just last week, we lost an hour to daylight savings, the current events kept eventing, Mercury stationed retrograde, and we experienced a lunar eclipse. Personally, it’s left my brain foggy, spirit depleted, and body fatigued from the strain of each and every muscle clenched in preparation for the other shoe to drop (if you’re thriving, I genuinely love that for you, but unfortunately, I can’t relate).
Today I bring you some little rituals to help facilitate your reawakening and soothe your nervous system. Below the paywall, you’ll find a mini one-cheese plate inspired by cucumber tea sandwiches, a lemon and dill-infused compound butter, and a sensory analysis test, which is essentially a little palate reset (like spring cleaning for your tastebuds). I also included some other suggestions for nurturing your nervous system, including a cheese meditation.
I hope these little offerings can provide you with comfort and ease during your own rebirth.
Wishing you all a happy spring equinox!
XO Erika
